Skills in 90: Fish

Master a new skill and grow your kitchen confidence in no time at all with our evening knife skills class. When it comes to cooking fish, a few simple techniques for preparing and filleting round fish will take away any fear of new recipes, and you’ll leave the class having had a delicious dinner, too.

What to expect

Master the essentials in just 90 minutes with our Skills night classes. Focussing on specific knife skills, ingredient preparation and core processes, our chefs will take you through these as you practise in the best way possible, by cooking your own dinner to enjoy with a glass of wine!

No matter your skill or experience, this is a great introduction to simple fish preparation and is aimed at building your confidence in working with kitchen knives. Our chefs will guide you through every process and be on hand for any questions and advice. 

Everything you need to rustle up a tasty dish will be provided in class and you’ll take home your recipes and any leftovers, plus plenty of inspiration for your own meals and cooking. 

Class details

Class starts: 6.30pm, arrive anytime from 6pm to check in at reception

Class finishes: 8pm, stay to dine with your class or take home the dishes you’ve made

Class size: Maximum 12 guests, some elements may require working in pairs with a classmate, don’t worry if you’ve come alone – it’s a great way to meet new people and have a laugh

Typical recipes and skills (we’ll cook the best available on the day, so we might surprise you!):

  • Introduction to fish and techniques
  • Filleting and preparing round fish, such as salmon, trout, sea bass or sea bream
  • Cooking methods, such as pan-frying or raw preparation, with easy side dish suggestions

  • Refreshments throughout the class including a glass of wine, beer or soft drink
